88miles,
Woke up yesterday morning with a tap on the shoulder from the Guard, but as I tried to move my foot, it had got tied up with some kind of metal hook on a woman's scarf who was sat in front of me! I half strangled the poor woman. This is a good start!
It was pouring down with rain as I got off the train but by the time it was bright enough to start cycling it had stopped. I spent that hour or so in the company of 4 cyclists from Portugal.
Got lost in Burgos, but having got a proper map I was on my way by 9:30.
Started easy enough but I did have the head wind that was to stay with me for the whole days riding! About 20 miles of the route was off road, no problem keeping to the paths though as it is well sign posted with plenty of pilgrims walking it also.
It seemed all up hill, and very tough with the small wheels on my bike, by the time I did get to a down hill part it was so steep I had to carry the bike!
My poor bike was caked in mud. When I passed a garage that had a pressure washer for 1 Euro I blasted my poor bike clean.
Shortly after that I met the lads again from Portugal, with their now filthy bikes. "How come your bike so clean? Did you get here by train?" They said. "I wish!!!!"
By 2:30 I was halfway to my hotel and about 40 miles to go and wondering if I will make it. About 20 miles to go the rain started and the headwind got up.
But at 10 miles things got easier and I could smell my BATH.... or was that me I could smell??
8:30pm I was in my Bath.

52 Miles
First half of today's riding was very tough, head wind was very strong, but the other half as the road turned closer to the north it got much easier. I arrived in Leon at 3:00pm,
I wanted to find a Hotel that was near the way out tomorrow. So I just put the wind into my face and cycled! and found my place to stay.
I'm watching the news in my room at the moment, and wondering if I might have to cycle home as Santiago airport is closed due to ash cloud!!
